David Nesta "Ziggy" Marley is a Jamaican reggae musician, songwriter, and philanthropist. The eldest son of Bob Marley and Rita Marley, he first gained international recognition as the leader of Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, a family band active from 1979 to 2002 that combined reggae with pop influences and earned multiple Grammy Awards, notably for Conscious Party. Since launching a solo career in 2003, Marley has released numerous albums on his own label, Tuff Gong Worldwide, earning additional Grammy Awards and cementing his status as a prominent cultural figure.
