Uber Eats is an online food ordering and delivery platform launched by the ride-hailing company Uber in August 2014.It is one of the largest global food delivery services, competing with companies such as DoorDash, Grubhub, Deliveroo and Just Eat Takeaway.com. In December 2020, Uber acquired the U.S.-based food delivery service Postmates for $2.65 billion, integrating its operations into the Uber Eats platform. However, Postmates continues to operate as an independent brand, with a particularly strong presence in the Western United States.
