Sara Mesa is a Spanish writer. Born in Madrid, she has lived in Seville since childhood. Her first publication was a book of poetry in 2007, Este jilguero agenda, for which she won the Premio Nacional de Poesía Miguel Hernández. This was followed by three short story collections and several novels. Un incendio invisible won the Premio Málaga de Novela in 2011 and Cicatriz won both the Premio Ojo Crítico de Narrativa and the Premio Literario Arzobispo Juan de San Clemente. Her novel Cuatro por cuatro was nominated for the Premio Herralde, while Un amor won the Premios de los libreros in 2021. A number of her works have been translated into English and published by Open Letter Books in the United States. Her 2020 novel Un amor has been adapted into a film with the same title, Un amor.
