Carlos Alcaraz Garfia is a Spanish professional tennis player. He has been ranked as the world No. 1 in men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals, including as the year-end No. 1 in 2022. Alcaraz has won 22 ATP Tour singles titles, including five major titles: two at the French Open, two at the Wimbledon Championships, and one at the US Open. Alcaraz began his professional career in 2018 at age 15. He broke into the top 100 of the rankings in May 2021, and ended that year in the top 35 after reaching the US Open quarterfinals. In March 2022, he won his first ATP 1000 title at the Miami Open at the age of 18. Alcaraz won his first major title at the 2022 US Open, becoming the youngest man and the first male teenager in the Open Era to top the singles rankings, at 19 years, 4 months, and 6 days old. Finishing the year as the youngest year-end No. 1 in ATP rankings history, he was named the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year for his performance that season. Read more
